How To Start Cat Obedience Training

Controllable pets are appreciated by every pet owner. Disciplined pets are envisioned by every wanna be pet owners. We have to remind ourselves though that these pets are not human and cannot understand the language that we speak. To live in harmony with your pet, right training should be conducted. Cat obedience training aims to make cats follow simple commands and be a well behaved pet.

The litter box plays a big role in cat obedience training. Having a potty trained cat is one of the biggest challenge that cat owners face. The first thing a cat should learn is where to go to the bathroom. Willingness to provide time for training is the key to having a potty trained cat. Start when it is just a kitten and provide a litter box. Lead your cat to the litter box upon waking up and after every meals. Rewards will keep your cat interested within the training. This training may take some time before getting the desired results.

Cat obedience training also involves teaching the cat where it is ok to do what. You will have to train the cat when it is ok to sleep, when it is ok to play and when it is ok to go to the bathroom. You will have to do this if you want the order in your home to remain. With limited obedience training, cats may end up scratching everything in your home. Keep an eye on your cat to stop any other mis behaviors.

You have to keep watch of what your cat is doing as much as you can in order to fix whatever bad behavior it has. In every good behavior that it shows, reward your cat with its favorite treat. You have to remember that hitting is not acceptable in cat obedience training as this will just lead your pet to stay away and be afraid. Cats are known to always please their owners and a few minutes of your time each day is all it takes for a well behaved pet.
